What is laser hair removal?
Laser hair reduction uses light energy absorbed by pigment in the hair to heat and damage the follicle, reducing its ability to regrow. Because hair grows in cycles, several sessions are needed. It reduces hair rather than guaranteeing permanent removal.

How does laser hair removal work?
The laser targets melanin in the hair shaft. Settings are chosen for your skin type and hair colour to protect the surrounding skin. Very light, grey or red hair responds poorly.
What happens during the appointment?
You and the practitioner wear protective eyewear. A cooling handpiece is passed over the shaved skin in sections. Most people feel a brief snap or heat.

How should I prepare?
- Shave 24 hours before; do not wax, pluck or thread for four weeks.
- Avoid sun exposure and self-tan for two weeks.
- Remove deodorant or make-up from the area.
What aftercare is needed?
- Apply soothing gel and SPF 50 to exposed areas.
- Avoid hot baths, saunas and exercise for 24 hours.
When will I see results, and how long do they last?
Most people notice progressive reduction over the course. Some regrowth over time is common, and occasional maintenance sessions may be recommended.

How many laser hair removal sessions do I need?
Most people need six to eight laser hair removal sessions, four to eight weeks apart, because the laser only affects hairs in their active growth phase. Face areas are usually treated more often than legs. Some regrowth over time is normal, and one or two top-up sessions a year may be recommended.
Is laser hair removal safe for darker skin?
Yes, laser hair removal can be safe for darker skin when the right laser is used. Long-wavelength Nd:YAG lasers pass the skin's surface pigment more safely than lasers designed for fair skin.
