Dermatologist

Assesses skin conditions such as acne and pigmentation and advises when medical treatment or referral is more appropriate than an aesthetic procedure.
Acne and pigmentation are medical skin conditions, so I begin with a diagnosis: the type of acne or pigment, what triggers it and what you have already tried. Plans usually combine home care, prescription treatment where it is needed and in-clinic procedures, and I review progress with photos taken in the same light each visit. In Dubai's sun, protecting the skin is part of every plan, and I am careful with lasers and peels on darker skin types, where the wrong setting can make pigmentation worse.
Every new laser patient has a patch test at least 48 hours before the first full session. We match the laser type and settings to your skin tone, which matters in Dubai, where we treat every skin type from very fair to deep brown.
Before any laser, a dermatologist confirms what type of pigment you have. Sun spots often respond well to laser, but melasma can worsen with heat, so it is usually treated first with creams and gentle peels instead.
We often use RF microneedling for acne scarring once active acne is under control. Treating scars while breakouts are still active risks spreading inflammation, so the acne programme usually comes first.
A medical facial at Luméra is planned after a skin assessment, not chosen from a menu. Your therapist adjusts the cleansing, exfoliation and active ingredients to your skin on the day, and records what was used for next time.
In Dubai's sun we favour a course of lighter peels over one strong peel, especially for medium and deeper skin tones. Lighter peels carry less risk of pigment change, and you can usually go back to work the same day.
Air conditioning and sun leave many skins in Dubai tight and dehydrated. A hydration facial is a gentle option before an event or between stronger treatments, and it suits sensitive skin that does not tolerate peels.
Acne at Luméra is led by a dermatologist, not by a facial menu. Some patients need prescription treatment, and we say so rather than selling in-clinic sessions that will not control the acne on their own.
Melasma is one of the most common reasons people come to Luméra. We are honest that it is managed rather than cured, and we build a plan you can keep up in Dubai's sun, including what to do in summer.
Newer red or purple stretch marks respond better than older white ones, so earlier is usually better. We often combine microneedling with a vascular laser for red marks, and we wait until after breastfeeding for marks from pregnancy.
