What is the pigmentation treatment programme?

Pigmentation is common in sunny climates and in deeper skin tones, and it can recur. This programme focuses on sun protection, suitable topical care and gentle in-clinic treatments, chosen to reduce the risk of making pigmentation worse.

May help with

  • Melasma
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Sun-related uneven tone

Who it may suit

  • Adults with pigmentation who can commit to daily sun protection

What we assess first

  • Any changing or irregular spot requires medical review first
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding or hormonal therapy

How does the pigmentation treatment programme work?

Combines daily protection, ingredients that regulate pigment production and treatments such as light peels that support even renewal.

What happens during the appointment?

After a skin review and photographs (with your consent) for tracking, the planned treatment is performed.

Every plan starts with a consultation with Dr. Priya Raman or another member of the medical team. Read our patient information before your visit.

How should I prepare?

  • Start the recommended SPF and home routine before in-clinic treatments.

What aftercare is needed?

  • SPF 50, reapplied regularly, plus hats and shade.
  • Avoid heat exposure such as saunas, which can worsen melasma.

When will I see results, and how long do they last?

Pigmentation usually lightens gradually. Melasma is managed rather than cured and can return with sun or hormonal changes.

Typical duration of results: Managed long term with sun protection. Price: From AED 500 per visit, after a dermatology consultation.

What are the risks and side effects?

  • Irritation from active ingredients
  • Rebound or worsening pigmentation

Frequently asked questions

Why not just use a strong laser?

Aggressive treatment can trigger more pigmentation, particularly in melasma and deeper skin tones. A gradual plan is usually safer.

Can melasma be cured?

Melasma cannot usually be cured, but it can be lightened and controlled. It is linked to hormones, sun and visible light, and heat. Treatment combines prescription creams, gentle peels and strict daily sun protection, often with a tinted sunscreen. Melasma can return in summer or with hormonal changes, so maintenance matters.

What is the difference between melasma and sun spots?

Sun spots are small, well-defined brown marks caused by years of sun exposure and often respond well to laser. Melasma appears as larger, blurry patches on the cheeks, forehead or upper lip, and is driven by hormones and light. The pigmentation treatment programme begins by working out which type you have.

How much does pigmentation treatment cost in Dubai?

At Luméra Clinic, the pigmentation treatment programme starts with a dermatology consultation, then visits from AED 500 each for peels or other in-clinic care. Prescription creams are priced separately. Your dermatologist gives you a written plan with costs before you start.
