What is a chemical peel?

Chemical peels range from superficial to medium depth. The peel type and strength are chosen for your skin type and concern, with a cautious approach for skin prone to pigmentation.

May help with

  • Dullness and rough texture
  • Mild pigmentation and post-acne marks
  • Oily, congested skin

Who it may suit

  • Most skin types, with the peel matched to skin tone

What we assess first

  • Pregnancy (some acids)
  • Isotretinoin within the past six months
  • Sunburn, broken skin or active cold sores

How does a chemical peel work?

Acids loosen the bonds between dead skin cells, encouraging shedding and renewal of the surface layers.

What happens during the appointment?

The skin is cleansed and prepared, the peel is applied for a timed period, then neutralised or removed. Tingling or warmth is normal.

Every plan starts with a consultation with Dr. Priya Raman or another member of the medical team. Read our patient information before your visit.

How should I prepare?

  • Stop retinoids 3–5 days before.
  • A preparatory skincare routine may be recommended.

What aftercare is needed?

  • Do not pick at peeling skin.
  • Use gentle cleanser, moisturiser and SPF 50.

When will I see results, and how long do they last?

Brighter, smoother skin as the surface renews. Improvement builds over a course and varies by skin type and concern.

Typical duration of results: Several months with daily sun protection. Price: From AED 450 per peel; courses from AED 1,200.

What are the risks and side effects?

  • Redness, peeling and sensitivity
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Rarely, infection or scarring with deeper peels

Frequently asked questions

Will my skin visibly peel?

Superficial peels may cause little visible peeling; stronger peels cause more. Your practitioner will tell you what to expect.

Will my skin peel after a chemical peel?

After a light chemical peel, many people see little visible peeling, just mild dryness for a few days. Medium-depth peels usually cause noticeable flaking for five to seven days. Do not pick or pull at peeling skin, keep it moisturised, and use SPF 50 every day while the skin renews.

Are chemical peels safe for darker skin?

Chemical peels can be safe for darker skin when the peel type and strength are chosen carefully. Superficial peels such as mandelic or lactic acid carry a lower risk of dark marks than deeper peels. Preparing the skin for two to four weeks beforehand also lowers the risk.

How much does a chemical peel cost in Dubai?

At Luméra Clinic, a chemical peel starts from AED 450 per session, and a skin renewal course starts from AED 1,200. Most concerns need three to six peels, two to four weeks apart. Your practitioner confirms the peel type and full price in writing at consultation.
